CPD Education

The AWGPN provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for GPs, practice staff and practice nurses. We aim to ensure that GPs, practice staff and practice nurses have access to a professional development program.
The development of quality general practices is based on an educated workforce that has the opportunity to maintain its skills at a level consistent with the demands of the profession. The AWGPN has recognised that an integrated approach, where not only GPs have access to continuing professional development, but also their support staff (practice staff and nurses) is vital to the overall high level of care now expected in general practices.
If health organisations are interested in holding a CPD Event via the AWGPN, please see our CPD contacts below.

The Practice Health Atlas (PHA) is a decision support tool for practices. By enrolling in the PHA Plan Do Study Act Learning Program, GPs have the opportunity to critically reflect on their business and clinical practice. The PHA PDSA Program consists of a series of three workshop modules combined with a range of activities which they agree to undertake between modules.
Each section has been developed using data from the Practice and other information from database sources available to the AWGPN. Within each section, each topic provides information relating to the Practice, and this is consistent with the five domains of General Practice in the RACGP education program.
Each topic provides a discussion point, where questions are posed to encourage the participant to reflect on their practice.
At the end of each section, there is a Plan, Do, Study Act (PDSA) worksheet. The PDSA cycle is the learning tool, whereby participants can apply the knowledge gained in the Practice Health AtlasTM to their current practice, and identify areas to measure for improvement.
Completion of all questions as well as the PDSA cycle will assist in fulfilling requirements for the Group 1 Active Learning Points, RACGP QA and CPD program.
